BOSASNet Public Appeal For Funding Support
BOSASNet depends on donor funding and donations from individuals and organizations in our community in order to be able to provide our services. The core of our operations is our Counsellors, as these dedicated men and women are the ones who provide direct services to individuals, families, and groups on a daily basis under the supervision of our Clinical Programme Manager.
BOSASNet successfully secured a P3,1m grant from the Alcohol Levy Fund under the Ministry of Health (Botswana) from June 2010 to May 2012. In June 2012, BOSASNet was approved a no-cost extension of this grant up to 30th November 201; and in December 2012 it was granted a second no-cost extension up to 30th April 2013. Unfortunately, due to insufficient funds, we had to temporarily cease our Clinical Services from 1st December 2012 to 14th January 2013.
Although BOSASNet has successfully received support, particularly in kind, from other organizations and individuals over the past few years, the funds from the Alcohol Levy Fund have been the single largest source of cash that has helped us establish and run our programmes. BOSASNet has fortunately secured another donor to support most of its operations from 1st May 2013 to 31st March 2014.
BOSASNet accounts for its donor and fundraising usage, and has updated independently audited financial statements up to the financial year ending 31st March 2012, with the audit of the current financial year due to begin after 31st March 2013.
The services that we provide are in constant demand, and we are confident that BOSASNet should be a going concern for the foreseeable future as a critical component of the national response to the impact of substance abuse and dependency on individuals, families, and the community at large. Since seeing the first client in September 2010, BOSASNet has helped over 200 people who were affected by or suffering from substance abuse and dependency. The substances that our clients have presented include (in alphabetical order) Alcohol, Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Crystal Meth, Heroin, Mandrax, Nicotine, Ecstasy, Painkillers, Marijuana, Sleeping pills.
BOSASNet's own fundraising activities to date have generated a food response and we have received notable donations of P100,000.00 from Letshego Financial Services (November 2012), P30,000.00 from a local Trust (November 2012), and P15,000.00 from Fleming Asset Management Botswana (March 2013) towards our continued operations.
